Shaw Trust grows across our Homes2Inspire network.
Homes2Inspire, Shaw Trust’s residential children’s homes, fostering and leaving care service, is expanding as the demand for high quality children’s social and residential care placements grows.
Across the UK more children and young people are being placed in the care of their local authorities, and this is set to continue. The Children’s Commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza, has highlighted concerns about children who have ‘fallen off the radar’ and are vulnerable, and we have witnessed the tragic deaths of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and Star Hobson putting additional pressure on local authorities. All social care teams want the best for their children and wherever possible they want to ensure children can be looked after within their own counties. This ensures children can receive important ‘wrap around’ services that can improve their life chances.
Homes2Inspire is opening new Ofsted registered children’s homes in safe locations where local authorities need us to expand the number of places we can provide. These are new homes for children with complex needs. Over the next few months, Homes2Inspire will be opening a further eight homes taking the number of homes to 38 homes, almost double the number only a few years ago.
The growth areas are Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, Central Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. These new homes are specifically for children who need additional support, because of their complex needs or their personal circumstances. Without the support of Homes2Inspire these children could be at risk of county lines and gang related activity, child sexual exploitation and becoming involved in offending behaviours.
With an increase in homes and the numbers of children supported, up from 114 to 134, we will also be recruiting around 100 new members of our Homes2Inspire team. There are opportunities at all levels for people interested in care work. Known for great progression and career opportunities, many of our Registered Children’s Home Managers and Regional Managers in addition to other staff within the central team started their careers within Homes2Inspire.
